2017, The Year I Started #aweekendwhimsy

Hey Loves!

Goodness it feels good to be writing again and just in time for the end of the year, gasp! It's so nice to be tucked under warm blanket, with a brew and my laptop on my knees.  This is a short post, I promise ;)

Now, to the topic at hand, which funnily enough is about Instagram. More specifically about the hashtag I started in Spring called #aweekendwhimsy

The Ethos of #aweekendwhimsy

The essence of the tag is come the weekend when time is more available is to encourage getting the camera out (or phone) to capture the whimsical elements of life, either through that moment of inspiration, or just perfect timing of capturing something fun. I guess it’s similar to Sara’s and Xanthe’s #hurrayforplay but aimed at the weekend.  I have really loved my photography journey so far and I love using my weekends to have a bit of fun at trying something new or different, or simply snapping that spontaneous but perfect detail of the weekend that seems magic somehow.

A few months ago the completely brilliant Sara Tasker featured the tag in one of her recent hashtag newsletters, which you can sign up to on her blog and since then the uptake of #aweekendwhimsy has been wonderful.

Right now the tag stands at 2k posts, with another boost thanks to the utterly amazing Dominique, who also has a newsletter that you can sign up to here  Her latest one has some super advice on hashtags so do sign-up!

Some of my favourite #aweekendwhimsy posts from 2017

As the year draws to a close I thought I would share the love on some the posts from the tag.  These for me truly embody the spirit of #aweekendwhimsy - see below!
